Payroll Direct Deposit

What Time Does Direct Deposit Hit?

At Altura, choosing Payroll Direct Deposit means you never have to wait in line to pay a bill. But there are other great benefits you may not have considered.

Using Payroll Direct Deposit from Altura Credit Union

The Benefits

Here are some of the top benefits of payroll direct deposit through Altura Credit Union:

  • Early Availability: Altura Credit Union gives you early access to your direct deposits. Depending on your payroll provider, Altura may deposit funds up to two days before your payday!
  • Instant Deposit: With electronic payroll deposits, your money shows up in your account faster than in-person deposits.
  • Instant Access to Funds: You don’t have to worry about check holds with Altura. Your money is instantly available in your account!
  • Loan Discounts: When you sign up for automatic payments, you receive a 0.5% discount on Altura loans.
  • Courtesy Pay: Not having overdraft protection on your account can put you in some tricky situations. But Altura will automatically pay your checks and debits up to a certain amount to cover you until your next paycheck.
  • Automatic Savings: By signing up for payroll deduction you can split your direct deposit between accounts. This helps you automatically save for holiday gifts, vacations, or other purchases.
  • E-Alerts: When you enroll in online banking, you can put your account on autopilot. Our e-alert program sends you emails and texts to let you know when your direct deposits come in and how much they are for.
  • Security: Electronic deposits help protect you from losing your checks or becoming a victim of theft.
  • Free Service: Best of all, there is no fee to set up payroll direct deposit!

FAQs

Can My Employer Force Me to Sign Up for Payroll Direct Deposit?

Some states allow employers to mandate payroll direct deposit. However, this is illegal in California. Although most people choose to get their paychecks through direct deposit, you can still choose to get a physical paycheck.

How Do I Get My Pay Stub for Payroll Direct Deposit?

Your employer must still give you a pay stub even if you’ve signed up for payroll direct deposit. However, how they give you this paystub depends on the employer. Some employers email their pay stubs to employees, while others will give you a physical pay stub. You should talk to your employer about this so you know how you should expect to receive your pay stub.

Can My Employer Charge Me a Fee for Direct Deposit? (Employer Direct Deposit Law)

This is another example of a situation that depends on what state you live in. In states that allow employers to require payroll direct deposit, it’s illegal to charge employees for direct deposit. However, California does not allow employers to mandate payroll direct deposit. There is no specific state law about whether or not your California employer can charge such a fee. It’s best to discuss your situation with a local attorney.
